Strengthening the digital skills in adult education

Today our society is full of challenges and changes, with the result that every person is faced daily with the complexity and demands of the new era. What we used to take for granted, both in education and in the labor market, is changing and we need to develop skills and abilities that will help us meet today’s challenges and ensure a satisfactory living environment.Â
The COVID 19 crisis showed that older people with a strong digital presence are less vulnerable in times of economic downturn and pandemic. . Digital literacy is considered the ability of the individual to uses digital technology, communication tools or networks to access, manage, integrate, evaluate and generate information to operate in the knowledge society (International ICT Literacy Panel, 2002). Therefore, people with digital literacy skills with new technology skills, knowledge and attitudes communicate better with family and friends. They have self-confidence, self-esteem and are active citizens in a society of equal opportunities.
This project was created based on the need to make the adult population digitally literate, as the transformations that have taken place in society over the last few decades are becoming increasingly evident and are happening at a dizzying speed. There is a transformation in all areas affected by the development of the Information Society which has been increasingly evident in the current health crisis caused by the covid-19 pandemic. All agree in identifying the intellectual capacities and the technological resources necessary for the processing of information as key factors for optimum performance in 21st century society.
